Branding & ADVERTISING
The yacht is a blank canvas which should be fully branded so that your companys presence is impossible to miss. Remember, however, that yachts are moored very close to one another in the port during events, so only the advertising located on the back of the boat and on the quayside will be visible.
The key places to attach advertising on a yacht are:
- The gangway railing(s)
- The aft deck railing
- The top deck railing
- Tenting, both on the top deck of
the yacht and on the quayside
A flag can also be a novel touch, though check with us first that your yacht has a free lanyard available and what size flag it can take.
With so many yachts moored in the port for some events, visibility is a key concern. Try to be innovative with the types of advertising you display. Colour is especially important because the vast majority of the yachts and all the tenting is white and thus bannering that has a white or pale coloured background, without a strong contrasting colour within the logo/text, may simply disappear.
QUAYSIDE TENTING
Quayside tents, if furnished and decorated thoughtfully, can prove to be an invaluable addition to your charter. The only proviso is that the tent and any furniture/decorative items in/on it must not impede the flow of pedestrians on the quayside.
However, a quayside tent is not essential to the success of your charter and there are numerous ways of attracting the attention of potential clients. For example, using a panel and a couple of strategically placed plants can be just as effective.
INSIDE YOUR YACHT
Once you have got a potential client on board your yacht, you need to maintain their interest. Ensure that you have plenty of brochures displayed in the communal areas and that any ‘freebies’ are displayed neatly in baskets or suitable containers, this is essential as otherwise, after a few hours of use, your yacht can soon start to look unnecessarily disorganised.
Ensure that you make the most of all the space available to you:
- Top decks are generally large spaces where at least 2 or 3 meeting tables can be hired and set up to maximise the number of clients you see during the course of the event.
- Do you need more private meeting rooms? Look into the possibility of converting the master stateroom into another meeting space. In some instances a meeting table can be installed over the bed, thus giving you a formal seating area for approximately 6 people.
- The aft deck should never be used as a formal/private meeting area as there is too much through traffic. Instead, set this area up as a general welcome area and waiting room. Always have a member of staff here to greet guests and passers-by and a large bowl, where people can leave their business cards if they wish to be contacted or sent information after the event: this is also a good idea for those who don’t have time to wait for a meeting.
ADDITIONAL Branding opportunities
As well as branding your yacht, why not brand your crew too? Providing the crew with company t-shirts, sweatshirts, coats or caps can add another dimension, not forgetting that they will be seen wearing your logo not only on the boat, but also as they walk around the port during the course of the day.
Ensuring that fresh flowers are displayed in key areas of the boat can add a welcoming touch. Large palm-style plants also look attractive.
Always bring additional free standing advertising, above and beyond what you anticipate you will need, as on arrival you will always find places (both inside and ouside the yacht) where additional advertising could be beneficial.
